Sleep Site performance.
Locust Projects, 2013
A Place for Online Dreaming (The Sleep Site), represents the digitation of human dreaming, consciousness, and imagination– the fundamental qualities that separate humans from machines. As both a performance-based installation and website, the piece operates on the physical and virtual realm simultaneously.
Online, visitors can log on to for online dreaming and tweet their dreams in real time. The site is equipped with a dream chat log and various audio tracks to create perfect ambiance for sleeping online. Resting separately but together, the sleep site produces a platform for collective consciousness. Digital dream catchers adorned with feather and beads glitch and shine on sleepers during performances of the piece, where individuals complete the installation by literally sleeping among one another and the video projection.
