HOW MY BEST FRIEND DIED 2011
How My Best Friend Died not only plays with the idea of societal desensitization to violence and suffering, but also the commoditization of said suffering into mass entertainment. The piece does not intend to pass judgment or even comment on the thousands of viewers that seek disturbing images daily (nor is it interested in what drives the desire for such images) but instead seeks to draw a connection to folkloric documentation of violent public deaths that has existed throughout most of history. How My Best Friend Died presents images that feel familiar and elicit feelings of impatience and satisfaction in a context that encourages introspection.
